25 SEPT – CBC PREMIER – Pheasant flying high and Joker undone by Crookes – Wadsley Bridge Pheasant sit proudly at the top with the CBC Premier’s only perfect record after their 2-0 victory over Sheffield Sixs. Sixers started brightly and had two glorious chances in the first half, but even though Pheasant came into the game more it stayed goalless. The second half didn’t see too many chances, but a corner and a fine Harry Holland header put Pheasant ahead. Sixs then missed a glorious chance to equalise, but Pheasant break away and a great cross allowed George Rudd to score their second to seal the points. Both sides offered a big thanks to Andrew Brooks for taking time out to referee after the original referee had to withdraw.

Current champions Joker Wickersley Youth suffered their first defeat in the League for over a year when they let a two goal lead slip before losing 4-3 at Crookes. Will Wraith gave Crookes the lead after 5 minutes with a deflected shot from the right, but Joker quickly got back into the game when a Kallum Nix cross was bundled over the line by Lewis Szanto. Joker took the lead on 23 minutes when Szanto was put through and held off the challenges of the defenders to slot past the keeper just inside the box. The goal of the game put joker 3-1 up on 27 minutes, when Kris Lee-Green sold the defender a dummy to get the ball onto his left foot and rifle it into the top corner from 25 yards. Joker were the masters of their own downfall when they gave the ball away and Joel Purkiss (right) took full advantage to score twice to send the teams in level at half time. That gave Crookes the confidence they needed and they dominated the second half, and with 8 minutes remaining, they finally got their reward when a good cross was met by an Oscar Seth header into the far corner.

FC Inter caused a surprise as a Mike Nuttall double on his debut helped them to a 2-1 victory at Royal Earl. Nuttall gave Inter the lead midway through the first half when his curling shot beat the keeper and he grabbed his second when he found himself unmarked at the back post. The second half saw Inter stay strong and it wasn’t until virtually the last kick of the game when Ryan Hindley netted for Earl.

There was no mistake made by Stannington Village though as a Jon Wall hat-trick helped them to a 4-1 victory at Boynton Sports. Stannington took the lead when a great cross from Luca DeFalco allowed Jon Wall (right) to volley in at the back post and it was 2-0 when Aemad Gadour found Wall and he produced another good finish from 20 yards. It became 3-0 when Jack Holmes was pulled back and from the subsequent free kick Jon Wall completed his hat-trick. It was 4-0 just before half time when Gadour was bought down and Charlie Hobson sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot. With Marc Peacock driving them forward, Boynton did better in the second half and they grabbed a consolation goal when Alastair Holland crossed for Jermaine Modest to head home.

Water Tower secured their first win of the season 2-0 at Oughtibridge WM. Tower dominated from the off, but had to wait until the second half before they opened the scoring. It was worth the wait though as Max Stocchi hit a 25 yard screamer on his debut and five minutes later Alex McIlvanney doubled the lead with an even better shot from 30 yards.

25 SEPT – DIVISION 1 – Legion fight back to stay top, but Eckington and South stay right behind – Chapeltown RBL came from two down to win 3-2 at AFC Dronfield to keep their perfect record and stay top. James Taylor and Tim Pitt goals in the first half looked to be putting Dronfeld on course for victory, but a formation change saw RBL come back into the game and they pulled one back when Niall Smith (right) crossed to the far post and Jay Carter nodded across for Mitch Savage to continue his purple patch and flick in his 5th of the season. Smith then equalised for the Legion when he cut inside to fire right footed in to the top corner. Man of the match Smith then crossed low for Carter to apply the finish and complete the comeback with 15 minutes to go.

Eckington with the help of a Jake Nicholson double also kept their perfect record with a 4-1 victory at Colley and Sheffield South won 3-0 at Cotts to match them both. Eckington took a first half lead in their game at Colley with an Ethan Flower powerful free kick. Colley hit back after the break and Chris Parkes levelled the scores, but they didn’t stay level for long as three goals in ten minutes turned the game Eckington’s way. Nicholson’s deflected strike from the edge of the area found the back of the net, before a whipped in cross was flicked home by Harry Bell and a run and cross down the right by Alister Haydock allowed Nicholson to tap home hiss second and Eckington’s fourth. It was all Eckington by now, but Colley somehow managed to hold on without further damage.

Sheffield South’s visit to Cotts followed a similar pattern. Ben Rothford gave South a first half lead, before James Hastings and John Rossiter goals in the second half saw South safely home.

25 SEPT – DIVISION 2 – Mosborough go top, but Stag and Jubilee stay hot on their heels – A Matt Ellis double helped Mosborough Reds to a 5-2 victory over Wadsley and to the top of the table. Matt Ellis (left) gave Reds a half time lead when headed home after leaving the Wadsley defence flat-footed at a corner. There was still nothing in the game until the 71st minute when Ash Hotchin met another corner at the back post to head home. Two minutes later Ellis lobbed the keeper for his second, but an own goal by Reds Adam Russell gave Wadsley hope. It didn’t last long though as Dom Howson crossed for Jack Turner to tap home Reds’ fourth, quickly followed by a bizarre own goal when the Wadsley keeper made a hash of a headed back pass. Wadsley had the final say when Reece James finished off the best move of the game, but it wasn’t enough to stop Reds going top.

On the same points is Stag FC after Matt Nundy’s (pictured right) first ever goal helped them to a 3-0 victory at previous leaders Sheaf House. Logan Liggins netted Stag’s others to maintain his run of goals in every game and take his tally to five for the season.

Also level is Jubilee Rangers after Brendon Flanagan’s double helped them to a 5-3 victory over Brinsworth Phoenix. Jubilee took the lead early with an Alfie Smith header but Brinsworth responded instantly with a John Mellor header from a corner to make it 1-1. Harry Dunkerley restored Jubilee’s lead, but Mellor showed why he is the League’s all-time leading marksman when he again levelled with a true poachers finish after Jamie Roper’ shot was parried by the keeper. The second half saw Jubilee take control Flanagan’s double along with one from Liam Hill meant Mellor’s hat-trick goal in injury time was just a consolation.

Royal Oak (Dronfield) and AFC Woodseats shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Woodseats took the lead when the keeper parried a shot to the edge of the area, only for him to be beaten with a quality finish by Brett Cashmore. Royal Oak pressed for an equaliser, but the Woodseats defence stood firm until 10 minutes into the second half when a handball allowed Josh Sugden the chance to score from the penalty spot. Further Oak pressure was rewarded when a neat move down the right by Dalton Sokhossana was finished by Keegan Evans at the far post. Woodseats hit back with just ten minutes remaining when Spencer Pettinger’s long range free kick deceived the keeper to find the net.

20 SEPT – TWENTYTWO CUP – Round 1 of the League Twentytwo Cup – The draw for Round 1 of the Blades Super Draw League Twentytwo Cup was made at Bramall Lane by the Sheffield Star reporter James Shields and The Athletic reporter Richard Sutcliffe. The only all-CBC Premier tie sees two former holders meet with WB Pheasant entertaining Royal Earl. Division One leaders Chapeltown RBL entertain a Boynton Sports their share their pitch with and by a strange quirk another game featuring teams that share their pitch sees Sheffield Sixs entertain Colley. Holders Joker Wickersley were one of four teams that received a bye. The full Draw is as follows: AFC Dronfield v Red Lion; AFC Woodseats v Sheffield South; Chapeltown RBL v Boynton Sports; Eckington BFC v Royal Oak; FC Inter v Southey Social; Mosborough Reds v Stannington Village; Norton Oaks v Wadsley FC; Sheffield Sixs v Colley; Stag v Crookes FC; Water Tower v Sheaf House; WB Pheasant v Royal Earl; Woodman Intake v Jubilee Rangers; Bye 1 v Brinsworth Phoenix; Bye 2 v Cotts FC; Bye 3 v Joker Wickersley Youth; Bye 4 v Oughtibridge WM. All ties to be played on 2 October. Joker Wickersley will have a League game at home to Oughtibridge WM that day.

18 SEPT – Clubs honour The Queen – League clubs honoured our late Queen Elizabeth II with a minute's silence before todays games. Pictured is Chapeltown RBL and Colley with referee John Reeves.

18 SEPT – CBC PREMIER – Sixs shock Crookes and Oughti finally bridge the gap – Newly promoted Sheffield Sixs made it two wins out of two with a surprise 3-2 victory over Crookes. Sixers took the lead on 3 mins when Aaron Buck capitalised on a defensive error to tap in. Crookes levelled through Joel Purkiss and we're the better team in the first half. Sixers settled better in the second half and regained the lead on the hour when Brad Howe netted from the centre of the box. Liam Davies scored a penalty on 75 mins to increase Sixers lead, but Crookes made it a nervy last ten minutes when Michael Vella pulle one back for Crookes, but sixers held on.

An even bigger surprise came at Stannington Village where Oughtibridge WM had previously lost there every time in their 20 years of clashes, but this time it was Oughtibridge that finally took the points away with a 2-0 win. After a first half of few chances and no goals, Stannington went close just after half time when Danny Abdulla's shot was cleared off the line, but it was Oughtibridge that went in front when Dan Broomhead played Matt Harrison (pictured left) in to finish well. They doubled their lead with an Adam Thomas 25yard free kick into the corner and held firm for that first win.

The early leader though is Wadsley Bridge Pheasant, after two Carlton Carty goals helped them to a 4-2 victory at Water Tower. Pheasant had already squandered a couple of chances before Carty struck his first and that was followed by a terrific Kane Doughty strike to give Pheasant a two goal half-time lead. Robert Farrell increased the lead after half time, but two quick goals by Oliver Fairweather and an own goal for Water Tower put the result in doubt until a great individual second goal by Carty sealed the points for Pheasant.

FC Inter and fellow new promotes Boynton Sports shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Boynton started the better of the two and pinned Inter back. Emmanuel Toby and Ross Thompson were causing many problems and it was their link up that led to the opening goal. Toby disposed the Inter defender before playing Thompson in and he beat his man before smashing it into the net. Things changed soon after when Toby dismissed and from the resulting free kick Ryan Goodison’s shot beat the keeper. The second half saw both sides going for a winner and despite being a man down it was Boynton, with Marc Peacock leading the way, that came closest when they hit the woodwork.

18 SEPT – DIVISION 1 – Legion Savage Colley to go top – Newly promoted Chapeltown RBL are the early leaders after Josh (pictured right) and Mitch Savage doubles helped them to a 9-2 win over Colley. Legion started brightly and twice came close to scoring, but it was Colley that opened the scoring with a well worked move finished off by Billy Thorley. That was as good as it got for Colley though and Legion were level just two minutes later when Jay Carter found captain Josh Savage on the edge of the area and he fired home left footed. Legion took the lead midway through the half when a Mitch Savage corner was met by Paddy Carrig to head home. Legion then scored two in two minutes when Carter pounced on a spill from the goalkeeper and Mitch Savage then finished off a flowing move to make it 4-1 just before half time.

Mitch Savage scored his second on the edge of the box curling in to the top corner with the outside of his boot, and then crossed for Dave Millen to head in to the roof of the net on his return from injury. Morgan Cowell then saw his penalty well saved, but Joe Moorhouse reacted quickest to score the rebound, and shortly after Mitch Savage crossed again and Moorhouse added his second with a strong header at the back post. Joe Woodhouse netted a second for Colley, before substitute Adam Todd found Josh Savage who’s driving run ended with him finding the bottom corner to complete the scoring. Action from the game is below, including Jay Carter about to score Legion's third.

Another big win came at Eckington, where the hosts beat Southey Social 6-0 to maintain their perfect start. Eckington took the lead after 15 minutes when a ball into the box from Joe Renshaw was tapped home by Dan White. They doubled their lead a minute before half time with a great strike by White from the edge of the box. Eckington got a 3rd soon after the break when Pat Stothard went through one on one, rounded the keeper and fired home. It became four when Than Flower’s free kick from the edge of the box flew into the top corner and the fifth came when Owen Ryan bundled his way through and slotted home past the keeper. A minute later Harris Kipling put the icing on the cake when his looping strike from the edge of the box completed the scoring.

Another to keep their perfect record was Shaffield South with their 2-0 win over Red Lion. In a terrific competitive game goals from Harvey Nolan and Brad Smith allowed South to take the points. Woodman Intake had a 5-0 win over AFC Dronfield to gain their first points of the season. After a very even start, once Woodman got the first goal with a great header by Elliot Coles they kicked on and took the game to Dronfield. They added a second with a great solo effort from Harry Walker. Coles and Walker both grabbed seconds and Aston Hemmings the other, but despite the scoreline it was Woodman keeper Steven Booth that took the man of the match award after stopping Dronfield take any of the great chances they created.

Cotts also got off the mark with a 4-1 victory at Norton Oaks. Two from Callum Shaw and one each for Ryan Simmonite and Chris Salt netted for Cotts, whist Oaks goal came from a run from his own area by Chris Pigott, before sending Kyle Grantham through for him to take it past a couple of players and square for Laurie Young to place home.

18 SEPT – DIVISION 2 – Stag do too much for Woodseats – Stag FC (pictured left) saw off fellow newcomers AFC Woodseats 4-1 to gain their first win in the league. Logan Liggins hit two along with Alex Platton and Marshal Ellis-Young strikes. Stag are just a point behind early leaders Sheaf House after Sheaf and second place Brinsworth Phoenix shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Jamie Roper put Phoenix ahead by putting the Sheaf defence in a spin before popping the ball in to the top corner and only the Sheaf keeper stopped them adding to it, but it was Sheaf that got their equaliser just before half tim with a Dan Wood strike.

Wadsley FC and Royal Oak also shared the points in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Both Jordan Thompson and Josh Sugden nearly gave Oak the lead, so it was no surprise when some clever play between Liam Ashton, Cal Sugden and Thompson saw the ball played in to Josh Sugden's path and he despatched it cleverly. Wadsley were dangerous on the break though and after a mistake by the Oaks keeper Roan Heeley equalised. Wadsley then went in front just before the break when a penalty was awarded for handball and George Scott stepped up to score. Oak changed their shape after the break and took the game to Wadsley, but it was Wadsley that struck next with a Gianni Raise goal. Oak persisted with some good football and pulled a goal back through Jordan Thompson assisted by Josh Sugden and with 8 minutes left Oak we’re awarded a penalty which was clinically dispatched by Josh Sugden to earn his side a share of the spoils.

4 SEPT – CBC PREMIER – Joker start with a win and Buck is on the money for Sixs – Joker Wickersley started their defence of the title with a 3-0 victory over newly promoted Boynton Sports. With Lewis Hanson producing a Man of the Match performance for the Premier newcomers it was Boynton that started the game better, but Joker grew into the game and Adam Daughtrey twice headed just over the bar before Liam O’Brien saw his powerful shot saved by the Boynton keeper. Jordon Thomas then saw his header flash inches over the bar just before half-time. It took just five minutes into the second half for Joker to go ahead. Liam O’Brien flicked a long clearance onto Jordon Thomas and although his first shot was blocked, it rebounded back to him to score into an empty net. Boynton tried to respond by pushing men forward and they looked capable of an equaliser until they were twice caught out by quick breaks late in the game. Liam O’Brien was again involved in Joker's second goal, with his darting run to the byline and cross allowing Josh Kirkland (pictured left) to bang home from six yards. Five minutes from time Kris Lee-Green and Lewis Szanto combined on the edge of the area to create the opening for Szanto to slip it past the keeper from an acute angle to complete the scoring. It had been a tough baptism ffor Boynton, but they should take heart as they won't meet many better sides than the champions.

Sheffield Sixs did much better on their CBC Premier debut as two Aaron Buck goals helped them to a 5-3 victory over Oughtibridge WM. Sixs took just two minutes to go ahead when Tommy Davies headed in Harry Buxton’s free kick. Matt Cowen equalised for Oughtibridge, but Aaron Buck put Sixs back in front when he pounced on a rebound to score from close range. Harry Buxton extended their lead just before half-time, but just after the restart Connor Platts netted Oghtibridge’s second. Danny Barnsley scored from the edge of the area to restore Sixs two goal lead, but an Adam Thomas penalty brought Oughtibridge back in the game until moments later, Buck’s terrific solo run and second goal clinched the win for Sixs.

FC Inter’s return to the CBC Premier didn’t go well as two George Rudd goals helped Wadsley Bridge Pheasant to a 5-1 victory over them. Jordan Stocks and Rudd goals had Pheasant two up in the first five minutes. A third came from Carlton Carty before half-time, but a Richard Hirst goal gave Inter some hope, but a Liam Childes strike and Rudd’s second completed the win for Pheasant. Crookes got off to a good start as second half goals from Will Wraith and Martin Brissett goals gave them a home win over Water Tower.

4 SEPT – DIVISION 1 – Jordan double helps Lion roar and Legion Savage Southey – Newly promoted Red Lion got off to a terrific start, with a Josh Jordan double helping Lion to a comfortable 5-1 victory at Norton Oaks. Jamie Jones Jack Joyce and Richard Stirrup netted Lion’s others before Mike Nuttall’s free kick gave Oaks a small consolation.

Another newly promoted side, Chapeltown RBL, made a similar start, beating Southey Social 5-1. After an even start, Ryan Keeney headed Southey in front at the back post from a corner. Legion made a double change and quickly equalised when Niall Smith beat his man and pulled back for Mitch Savage (pictured right) to slam home. Man of the Match Smith then set up Morgan Cowell who controlled in the area and found the bottom corner and a minute later Jay Carter made it 3-1 after a mix up at the back allowed him to take it around the keeper and score in to an empty net.

Following a good move Josh Ball did well down the right and squared for Smith to score a goal of his own, and the scoring was complete late on when Joe Moorhouse squeezed the ball under the Southey keeper.

Sheffield South took all three points with a 4-1 home win against Colley. Louis Marven fastened on to a through ball to give South the lead and James Hastings curled in a free kick to double it before half-time. Colley had chances at the start of the second half, but it was Ben Rotchford that netted South’s third. Colley pulled one back when Joe Woodhouse put the rebound in after the ball had hit the post, but any thoughts of a comeback were dashed when John Rossiter netted South’s fourth.

Eckington got off to a good start with a 2-0 win over Woodman Intake. They took an early lead when the Woodman keeper could only parry Zach Burns shot and Harry Bell knocked home the rebound. Woodman responded and created several good chances both before and after half-time, but Eckington were always dangerous on the break and Pat Stothard doubled their lead with one such break. Woodman tried to get back into it, but the Eckington defence stood firm to take the points.

4 SEPT – DIVISION 2 – Wadsley flooded by Sheaf and Ellis scores a ton – Sheaf House scored six in a blistering second half for the biggest win of the weekend as a Ricardo Guyo hat-trick helped them to a 7-0 victory at Wadsley FC. Guyo netted the only goal in the first half, but after Ash Wood scored in the first minute of the second half it was one-way traffic. Guyo completed his hat-trick, Ash Wood grabbed his second and Dan Wood also netted twice.

Matt Ellis (left) also scored three as Mosborough Reds won 3-0 at an AFC Woodseats playing their first game in the League. Ellis scored the first from the penalty spot early on and he doubled the lead before half-time with a terrific volley. Woodseats missed a chance to get back into the game when they missed a penalty and Ellis made them pay by completing his hat-trick with his 100th goal for the club.

The other two newcomers didn’t do any better. A Jack Hawkes double and an inspired display in goal by John Mellor saw Brinsworth Phoenix beat Stag FC 3-1. Daniel Commandeer put Phoenix ahead, but it needed several saves by Mellor to keep their lead at the break. The second half saw Junior Wheeler and Jake Hallet combine to set Hawkes up for his first, but Stag deservedly got back into the game with a Logan Liggins penalty. After that, Mellor was again needed to make saves to keep Stag out, before Callum Turner’s through ball allowed Hawkes to grab his second to make the points safe.

The last of the newcomers, Royal Oak (Dronfield), slipped to a narrow 3-2 home defeat by Jubilee Rangers. Lewis Smith tapped home to give Jubilee the lead until Oak levelled with a Josh Sugden penalty, but in the final minute of the first half Mason Hunt netted from a tight angle to put Jubilee back in front. After the break a terrific counter attack allowed Brendan Reid-Flanagan to lob the keeper for Jubilee’s third and although Oak pulled one back when a free kick was deflected into his own net by a defender, Jubilee held on.
