28 OCT - SUNDAY SENIOR CUP - Big wins for Pheasant and Woodseats, while Village and Renishaw also through - We will have 4 teams in the last 16 after both Wadsley Bridge Pheasant and Woodseats Club both had big wins and both Stannington Village and Renishaw Rangers saw off their opponents. Leading the way in terms of goals were Wadsley Bridge Pheasant as they notched eleven goals without reply against their visitors from Upton Wrangbrook. The home side were three goals to the good at the half time break thanks to a brace from Luke Beedham and a scrambled effort from Adam Askwith. However, they really turned on the style in the second half with eight goals hitting the Upton net. Beedham netted two more as did Askwith to complete the latter’s hat-trick, Jordan Livett also scored twice whilst Lewis Twibell and a first ever Pheasant goal for Joe Woodhouse completed the comprehensive victory.

Also in the goals were current CBC Premier leaders Woodseats Club as they recorded an 8-1 win against Highstone Road WMC. Liam Bryan and Sam Read (left) both scored hat-tricks for Club whilst efforts from Lewis Whittaker and Nicky Owen added further gloss to the win. Stannington Village blanked out Langold Old Boys with a 3-0 success thanks to strikes in the first half from Shaun Flynn, Dean Jepson and Lewis Dickinson. The fourth Blades Super Draw side through were Renishaw Rangers as their trip to Birley proved to be a successful one as a Robin Holmes superbly taken brace, one a long range effort that arrowed into the top corner and a Karl Ainsworth header sealed the deal in a 3-1 win.

Not as lucky were Norton Sportsman, Oughtibridge WM, Wickersley and Chapeltown RBL as all suffered exits. Sportsman were given a tough test at Joker and they were up against it as the home side scorched into a four goal first half lead. Brad Bowland neatly finished a James Archer cross to reduce the arrears but Joker added two more in the final stages to secure their place. Oughtibridge WM were three goals down to Conisbrough Conyers at one stage, but rallied with a great free-kick from Adam Thomas and Ross Brown. Conyers kicked on again and added three more making a third Oughtibridge goal from Richard Honeyman; a consolation.

Wickersley suffered a narrow loss in their home tie against Swinton Robin Hood. It was a game which Wickersley could have taken convincingly but their profligacy in front of goal proved to be their undoing as did the two defensive errors which handed the visitors their goals. Ainsley Finney pulled one back for the hosts in the final ten minutes but they couldn’t net a second to force extra time. Despite giving their best, Chapeltown RBL’s Senior Cup dreams bit the dust with a 12-2 loss at an impressive Wombwell Main: Ben Leonard and Adam Todd hitting the goals for Legion.

28 OCT - SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP - Cotts put out Forum and Cobden beat Oaks A, as most of the rest go through - The League will make up at least half of the teams in the last 16 of the Sunday Junior Cup after most of the clubs went through. Ryan Damms was the star of the show for Southey Social as they secured a superb 9-1 success at Sporting Wadworth. Damms hit a hat-trick in the first ten minutes and Ryan Whitney added a couple more as Southey were 5-1 ahead by half-time. More goals followed in the second half as Damms added a further two for a five-goal personal haul whilst efforts from John Mellor and Jack Dickens finished the rout.

Crookes had five different scorers as they saw off Stute 5-1. Mike Murphy, Peter Smith (right), Andy Parkin, Matt Cowen and Joel Purkiss all found the net as the home side went for a nap hand whilst Sheffield Sixes did the same in their game at Milton Furnace with an identical scoreline. Brad Howe scored a first half hat-trick for Sixes and Harry Buxton completed the scoring with a well taken double. Mosborough Whites made the semi-final last season and they’re on course for repeating that as they are in the next round after despatching New York Tavern 4-0 thanks to a Luke Walker double strike and additional efforts from Chris Howard and Lewis Russell.

Two goals from Tom Nolan and one from Billy Wright saw Cup holders Royal Earl through 3-1 at the expense of Little Mesters whilst efforts from Leon Cheslett and George Leesley proved to be the difference as Woodhouse Juniors prevailed 2-1 at Portcullis. In the two all-Blades Super Draw ties, Cobden View and Cotts advanced with wins over Norton Oaks A and Forum respectively. Brad Hardy cancelled out Ben Bell’s opener for Cobden for a level opening half before two goals from Tim Pitt put the home side in the ascendancy. John Rossiter pulled one back late on for Oaks but Cobden held on.

A single effort from Michael Blythen (left) was enough to see Cotts through at the expense of Forum who suffered their first loss of the season in all competitions. Both Civil Sports sides suffered an exit. At Green Lane, Civil Sports A were 1-1 after extra time with Eckington U21’s with Callum Stewart scoring the home goal but the visitors took it in the resultant penalty shootout; taking that 4-3. Also exiting were the Civil Sports B side as they slipped to a 7-1 loss at Sheffield Legends – James Greenwood with the sole effort that found the back of the Legends. Meanwhile Boynton Sports may have to try again next week after their game at Brierley was postponed at the last minute.

28 OCT - CBC PREMIER - First win for Intake - In the day's only CBC Premier game it was a first win of the season for Intake Old Boys at the sixth attempt as they recovered from conceding an early goal to defeat Handsworth Old Crown 2-1. Ryan Goodison had opened the scoring for Handsworth but Intake levelled in the early stages of the second half thanks to Harry Chamberlain. The game winner came halfway through that second half when some excellent work from Elliott Coles set up Jamie Roper for a close range finish. Crown threw everything at Intake thereafter but the home side held on for a well-deserved three points .

28 OCT - DIVISION 1 - Ash Hotchin nets for both Reds and Oaks B to give them their first points - Ash Hotchin scored at both ends of the pitch as Norton Oaks B and Mosborough Reds shook hands on a 2-2 draw to give them both their first point of the season. Nathan Davies gave Norton the lead just before half time but a Jamie Damms header on the hour levelled matters. With eighteen minutes to go, Hotchin put the Reds in front and they looked to secure that first win until the unlucky Hotchin put the ball into his own net in the final minute.

28 OCT - DIVISION 2 - Cadbury go top, while Magpies keep a clean sheet again - It’s a sweet feeling again for Cadbury as they ascended back to the Division Two summit thanks to a 2-0 home success over Woodseats Chantrey. Tom Wilson and a real collector’s item from Scott Bottom proved to be the difference in the end but Cadbury could have won by more if their finishing had been more ruthless. Chances were at a premium in the Shakey and Beighton Magpies game but it was a Stefan Hadfield (left) effort midway through the first half that stood up as the game winner as Magpies collected their third clean sheet in four games. Honours were even in the Wadsley Horse and Jockey versus Brinsworth Phoenix game as they shared the points and four goals: Lewis Smith and Sonny MacDonald scoring for Jockey whilst Phoenix were thankful to a Jack Hawkes double; his first being described as one that Eric Cantona would have been proud of.

25 OCT - STEVE GEE MERIT CUP FINAL - Harrison double seals the Merit Cup for Oughtibridge - The Steve Gee Merit Cup Final, played at Stocksbridge Park Steels Look Local Stadium, saw CBC Premier Oughtibridge WM come out 3-0 victors against Division One Norton Oaks B with first half goals from Danny Booth and a Matt Harrison double.

Oughtibridge quickly got into their stride and the Oaks defence was at full stretch to keep them at bay, but just as it looked like they had got over the worst of the pressure a terrific effort by Danny Booth found the top corner to put Oughtibridge ahead. That gave Oughtibridge the impetus again and when a Callum Chambers shot could only be parried by Oaks keeper Tom Burnham, Matt Harrison was on hand to double his side's lead. Harrison quickly picked up his second of the night to give Oughtibridge a three goal half-time lead.

The second half was a more even affair with Oaks even threatening to pull a goal back, but Oughtibridge always looked threatening on the break and it needed Burnham to stop Chambers increasing Oughtibridge's lead with a couple of great saves. Oughtbridge skipper Ross Brown also went close, but Burnham dealt firmly with what was thrown at him and with Oaks skipper Matt Jessermino holding his defence together better after the break, Oaks managed to avoid any further damage. At the end of the game League President Larry Angel MBE presented the trophy to Oughtibridge skipper Ross Brown. Pictured right is Oughtibridge with the trophy. Left is Runners-up Norton Oaks B.

21 OCT - TWENTYTWO CUP - Crown stay on track for a reurn to the Lane - The final second round game in this season’s Twentytwo Cup saw last season's losing finalists, CBC Premier Division side Handsworth Old Crown, take a step closer to a return to Bramall Lane with a 3-0 victory over Division One’s Norton Oaks B. Crown took the lead midway through the first half when Ben Shackshaft finished from close range, but Oaks despite their low Division One position were making it hard for their hosts and it took a second half goal from Matt Ellis to settle the Crown nerves. Shane Rollinson added a third for the home side and they now travel to Civil Sports A in the next stage. .

21 OCT - CBC PREMIER - Bryan and Leesley trebles as Woodseats go top on a goal-filled day - On a day when the five CBC Premier games produced an amazing 41 goals, both Liam Bryan (1st left) and James Leesley (2nd left) netted hat-tricks as Woodseats Club went back to the top of the table by beating an understrength Chapeltown RBL 12-0. Nick Owen, Matt Darlow, Lewis Whittaker, Sam Read, Russ Westby and Flanagan also netted. Legion’s reserve keeper Adam Simpson had a great game despite the heavy loss, keeping the score down and saved a penalty for good measure.

Club lead the table on goal difference from Wadsley Bridge Pheasant who came out on top in a eight goal thriller at Redmires. Things started well for Redmires when Jon Wall gave them the lead but a brace from Luke Beedham, one from the penalty spot, gave Pheasant the lead only for Tom Whiting to level matters and send the teams in at half time all square. A long range bullet from Josh Statham put the visitors back in front, but an own goal had the home side back on parity. It was then a case of could anyone win it and two goals in the final five minutes saw Pheasant take the points. Jordan Livett gave them a 4-3 lead with a fine individual effort and as Redmires pushed for a leveller, Lewis Fothergill broke away for number five and the match.

Just a point behind these two are Norton Sportsman as they had five different scorers in their 5-2 away win at Renishaw Rangers. Montelle Kamara’s first of the game, when he coolly rounded the Sportsman keeper, gave Rangers the lead but Callum Frith equalised. Sportsman took the lead when Michael Gibbons’ cross-cum-shot floated its way home before Kamara ensured the teams would be level at the interval when he netted a penalty after he had been brought down in the area. Sportsman regained the lead when Chris Winters nodded home a James Archer cross and two further goals in the last ten minutes secured the points thanks to a poacher’s finish from Brad Bowland, who capitalised on a mistake by Renishaw’s keeper, and a superbly taken twenty yard effort from captain Chris Lewis in the final seconds.

Also in contention are Stannington Village as they recorded a 7-2 home win over Intake Old Boys at Malin Bridge Gas Club. Lewis Dickinson led the scoring for Village with a couple of goals whilst Ben Cook, Shaun Flynn, Charlie Hobson, Joe Barker and an own goal ensured the home side would be in seventh heaven at the end. Intake gave as good as they could and goals from Jonny Roper and Elliott Coles gave them a great deal of respectability.

Getting also back to winning ways were Wickersley as they edged past previous leaders Oughtibridge WM 3-2 at the Herringthorpe Stadium. Drew Houghton gave the home team the lead with a well-executed chip but Matt Harrison levelled for Oughtibridge almost straight away. Brad Carroll gave Wickersley the lead in the second half and then a long range screamer from Kris Lee-Green made it 3-1 to Lewis Carder’s men. Callum Chambers reduced it to 3-2 when he reacted first to his own penalty after Wickersley keeper Jon Reed had saved the first effort, and they could have had a point if Ross Brown had taken a golden chance and Simon Duckworth hadn’t hit the bar in the final minute.

21 OCT - DIVISION 1 - Forum just maintain their perfect record to go 8 points clear - It’s six wins from six for Jamie Smith’s Forum as they edged a close game at Green Lane against Gary Eades’ Civil Sports A by the narrow margin of 2-1. Andy Harrison gave the visitors a first half lead and Josh Gibson doubled the lead in the second half. With ten minutes left, Civil were given a lifeline when Leon Howarth scored from the penalty spot, but Forum had enough about them to see the game out and extend their lead at the top to eight points.

Forum’s nearest challengers, Cotts FC, fell further adrift adrift after sharing eight goals in an entertaining game with Ranch. Mike Vella hit a hat-trick and Connor Brunt one for the home side who were 3-0 ahead at half time and 4-2 ahead as the game entered its final throes. Stef Flint and Kieran Patterson had kept Cotts in the hunt and they managed to come away with a point thanks to those late strikes from Chris Blythen and Nick Haywood.

Crookes FC move up to fourth with a 6-1 home win over Norton Oaks A, with three goals in the opening half doing the principal damage. A double from Matt Cowen and one from Liam Cartledge did the trick and despite Jason Hopwood reducing the deficit ten minutes into the second half, Crookes kicked on again and goals from Mike Murphy, Joe Jerrison and Paul Wood saw them home. Mike Walker proved to the hero for Cobden View as they recorded a morale boosting 3-2 win at Southey Social. Goals from Walker and Callum McCrury sandwiched a John Mellor strike for Southey to give Cobden the half time lead. Mellor netted a penalty to level matters, but Cobden found another gear and forced Cal Jones in the home goal into a series of saves before Walker produced a superb dipping volley in the final minute for a dramatic winner.

21 OCT - DIVISION 2 - Marston at thew double as Shakey turn the table upside down to end Boynton's unbeaten record, letting Sixs go top - James Marston scored twice as the Division 2 table was turned on its head with leaders at the start of the day Boynton Sports losing a two goal lead and their unbeaten record as Shakey climbed off the bottom with a deserved 4-2 victory over them. Boynton were fully expected to take the win and were quickly into their stride with goals from Jake Ballinger and Enos Huly. However, inspired by Andrew Redfearn, Shakey battled away and took the points thanks to a James Marston brace whilst Tom Fullelove and an own goal completed a superb morning’s work.

Mosborough Whites also lost their perfect record when they came out on the wrong side of a 4-3 loss against Woodhouse Juniors. George Leesley grabbed a couple for Woodhouse, whilst Leon Cheslett and Chris Laconi netted their others. Whites replied through Julian Lawrence, Levi Williamson and Lewis Russell and they would have taken a point had Jack Bennett not had a penalty saved.

The only team with a 100% record league newcomers Sheffield Sixes who went to the top after a 5-1 win at Brinsworth Phoenix. Danny Barnsley (left) continued his hot streak in front of goal with a superb hat-trick, the third a fantastic strike from fully thirty yards out, whilst Damon Ashall and Harry Buxton also found the back of the Phoenix net. Phoenix’s sole response came from Jack Hawkes whom had cancelled Barnsley’s opener with a superb chip over the keeper after Karl Howden had prised open the visiting defence.

Cadbury will be rueing themselves as they let a 4-1 lead slip against Wadsley Horse and Jockey to share the spoils in a 4-4 draw. Josh Grant and Jacob Beech both hit doubles for the home side but Jockey got their point thanks to a double from George Scott and single efforts from Lewis Smith and Sam Rollitt. Beighton Magpies produced a great performance to see Woodseats Chantrey 4-0 with Stefan Hadfield notching a first half brace. Dale Featherstone and Lewis Hunt hit further goals in the second half and at the other end Cameron Adams thwarted Chantrey time and time again. Chantrey’s day was summed up when they finished it with ten men after Jordan Sambrook saw red.

In the final game of the schedule, Colley proved to be too hot for Civil Sports B as the home side scorched to a 9-3 win. They were five goals to the good by half time as Billy Thorley, Lyndon Fletcher, Danny Parker, Chris Fowler and Matt Meaney all found the back of the net. With confidence high after this, Colley changed their striking options for the second half and it made little difference as Chris Onjia, Matt Jebson and a Ragen Dempsey double also netted. Civil’s replies came from a Alex Cowlishaw double and one from James Greenwood.

17 OCT - SUNDAY CUPS - Five at home and three away in Senior Cup, while Earl and Whites are at home in Junior Cup - Five of our clubs, including current CBC Premier leaders Oughtibridge WM, champions Stannington Village and Twentytwo Cup holders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant, have been handed home ties and three away in the County FA Sunday Senior Cup, while the Sunday Junior Cup sees 6 home ties for our clubs, including last season's finalists, Royal Earl and Mosborough Whites. 7 have got away ties. There are two all-Division 1 Blades Super Draw ties in the Junior Cup with Cobden View entertaining Norton Oaks A and Cotts entertaining Forum. 14 OCT - SUNDAY SENIOR CUP - Oughtibridge edge out Intake, but Redmires suffer a shock KO - Of the seven Senior Cup ties featuring Blades Super Draw League teams, only two failed to progress and even then one of those who exited was to a fellow CBC Premier Division side. The biggest winners on the day were Norton Sportsman who dispatched Byron House with an 8-1 win. Harry Groombridge opened the scoring for Sportsman before a hat-trick of headers by the prolific Brad Bowland (Left) put the game beyond any reasonable doubt. Byron pulled one back but Jack Waymouth restored the four goal margin to send the home side 5-1 ahead at the interval. Two further headers from Chris Winters and Joe Muress made it seven before Bowland tapped home his fourth of the morning to complete the rout.

Also in the goals were Wadsley Bridge Pheasant as they made their long trip to West Melton worthwhile as they recorded a 6-0 victory at Queens United. Pheasant had the tie wrapped up in the first half as they scored four goals without reply thanks to a penalty from Luke Beedham, a couple of headers from Harry Hurst and Ashley Simpson and Jordan Livett’s first of the game. Despite the heavy rain making conditions harsh, two more Livett (right) strikes in the second half to make it six and complete a well taken hat-trick ensured a smooth passage into the next stage.

Another side that scored a hatful away from home were current CBC Premier champions Stannington Village as they defeated Thrybergh Top Club 8-2. Top Club took the lead in the opening minute but Dean Jepson (left) levelled when his persistence saw him harry the home keeper and then dispossess him to tap home. Sean Flynn then supplied a great pass for Charlie Hobson who finished well with a strike into the top corner before adding the third himself with a strike from range. Lewis Dickinson then got in on the act with a fine left foot finish into the top corner to put Village 4-1 ahead at the break but Thrybergh made it 4-2 in the early stages of the second half. Yet Village kicked on again and Jepson flicked the ball onto Dickinson for 5-2, before the former completed his hat-trick with goals six and seven: Ben Cook and Lee Johnstone providing the relevant assists before Arnie Grayson made it eight with a left foot finish into the far corner.

After a couple of bad defeats, Wickersley got their winning groove back as they saw off Cosywarm 5-3 at the Herringthorpe Stadium. Lewis Carder’s troops were two goals to the good thanks to Ross Johnson and Joe McGuinness’ first of the game. An unstoppable free-kick saw Cosywarm reduce the arrears before Adam Daughtrey and McGuinness again found the net to give the home side a three goal margin. A quickfire double in the last ten minutes saw Cosywarm make it a one goal game before McGuinness scored a hat-trick goal from the penalty spot to give Wickersley the win.

Two strikes from Levi Richmond (right) proved to be the difference maker as Renishaw Rangers defeated Romans Rest Lions 2-1 with all the goals coming in the second half. Richmond could have had a hat-trick but saw his free-kick strike the crossbar and then land on the wrong side of the goal line. Yet the all Blades Super Draw League encounter saw Oughtibridge WM edge past Intake Old Boys 3-2 at the War Memorial Ground. Chas Tunnard opened the scoring for the understrength home side, who started the game with manager David Hudson in between the posts, before Callum Chambers scored twice on his first start of the season to put the home side three up after half an hour. Mark West and Sam Knight made it a close game with strikes for Intake but Oughtibridge managed to hold on despite playing the last half an hour with ten men after Harley Scholey was injured and they had no substitutes to call on.

Having made the semi-final last season, hopes were high that Redmires could go one better this year but they suffered an early exit as their trip to Doncaster ended with hosts Scawthorpe Athletic recorded a 5-1 triumph: Andy Bath scoring Redmires sole strike. Both Chapeltown RBL and Woodseats Club are in the hat for round three though as their respective opponents failed to field a side so Legion and Club received walk overs, whilst Handsworth Old Crown must wait to find out if they will join them after their game at Kilton Rovers was postponed at very short notice.

14 OCT - SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP - Barnsley too good for Barnsley !! while Woodhouse leave Mosborough with red faces - Thirteen teams are through to the next round of the Junior Cup as the Blades Super Draw sides enjoyed a good morning. Leading the way with a comprehensive home win were Sheffield Sixes as they hit fifteen goals without reply against an unfortunate Barnsley Ship. Danny Barnsley (left) was the chief hitman as he hit five whilst there were doubles for Simon Howe, Brad Howe, Brad Nicholson and Eddie Parker. Matt Coyle and Damon Ashall also found the net for Sixes who had the game comprehensively won at half time as they had hit ten by then.

Boynton Sports hit nine goals for the second successive round to hand visitors West Green a 9-2 loss. Jake Ballinger and Lee Jordan both hit a brace whilst Enos Huly, Sean Woodward, Tom Goodison, Curtis Priday and Kieron Sykes-Tobin also found the net. Cotts were another side scoring a handful as they hit Innings for seven in their tie. Nick Haywood scored twice for the home side whilst Sam Stacey, Joe Moakes, Jon Dolan and the Blythen brothers (Mike and Chris) also netted.

Ryan Damms was a hat-trick hero for Southey Social as they enjoyed a 5-0 success at home to Crown Scissett, John Mellor scoring the other two. There was also a Civil double as both the A and B sides made it into the third round. Player-Manager Gary Eades was at the heart of the A team’s 5-3 win over Thrybergh SSC as he grabbed a couple, further goals coming from Thomas Bamford, George Hobson and an own goal. The B side weren’t to be outdone though as they recorded a 3-0 win over Mount thanks to James Greenwood’s double and one from Alex Cowlishaw which opens the possibility of an all-Civil encounter in the next round.

Ben Bell (right) had a game to remember for Cobden View as they advanced after a penalty shoot out following a 3-3 draw after extra time with AFC Lundwood. Bell had scored twice, Mike Walker the other before the former turned hero in the shootout as his stand-in goalkeeping heroics saw him save a Lundwood penalty to help his side to glory. John Rossiter was again in the goals for Norton Oaks A as they advanced to round three with a 5-3 defeat of KCM Ryecroft Taproom, Rossiter hitting a hat-trick and Oaks also seeing Adam Watts and Jason Hopwood find the Taproom net.

Liam Cartledge’s double proved decisive as Crookes recorded a 2-1 away win at Queens Head Hoyland whilst Mosborough Whites are also through thanks to a hard fought 4-2 victory at Swallownest. Chris Howard and Lewis Russell had Whites two goals to the good before Swallownest got the game back on parity. A low finish from Jordan Meadows put Mosborough 3-2 ahead and the win was secured when a cross to the far post was converted by Danny State.

There were also two all Blades Super Draw ties and Woodhouse Juniors and Forum prevailed from them. Woodhouse overcame Mosborough Reds 3-1 thanks to goals from Henry Bradshaw, George Leesley and Jordan Kyle with Ross Elliott providing Reds’ sole reply whilst Forum continued their great start to the season a 7-1 win at Woodseats Chantrey. Matty Ord continued his hot goalscoring form with a hat-trick whilst Josh Gibson, Jav Sherratt, Antony Holmes and Nat Reid also netted against a Chantrey side whose consolation came from Brad Gray.

Last season’s winners Royal Earl are through without kicking a ball as hosts Shireoaks Welfare couldn’t raise a side but the league suffered a sole exit as Beighton Magpies were narrowly defeated 2-1 at Cawthorne 2017 with Dale Featherstone on target in a superb match played in appalling weather conditions.

14 OCT - DIVISION 1 - Ranch leave Oaks B rooted at the bottom - Tn the only game in Division One, Ranch made their trip to Norton Oaks B worthwhile with a 3-0 away win where the visitors took their chances whilst the home side didn’t. On the mark for the away side were Alex Mosley, Chris Wajs and Connor Brunt; a result that takes them up three places in the table.

14 OCT - DIVISION 2 - Phoenix get second home win, while Jockey rides off with the points at Shakey - There was just a couple of games in Division Two, and it was a welcome return to that winning feeling for Brinsworth Phoenix as they came from behind to defeat Colley 3-1. Matt Meaney had given the visiting side the lead but three unanswered goals for Phoenix gave the points. Kyle Lawton levelled matters with a powerful header and then great wing play from Hussein set up Daniel Commander to put Phoenix ahead and the win was secured when Jack Hawkes latched onto a loose Colley throw-in and finished superbly. Wadsley Horse and Jockey made it two wins in a row as they edged past Shakey 3-2 thanks to strikes from Reece James, Luke Hancock and Sam Eggleston, and a penalty save by Joel Clarke, meaning that Billy Hilbert’s double for Shakey was in vain.

11 OCT - STEVE GEE MERIT CUP FINAL - Oughtibridge WM to face Norton Oaks B in the Merit Cup Final on 25 Oct - The Steve Gee Merit Cup Final will see Division One Norton Oaks B face CBC Premier Oughtibridge WM at the Stocksbridge Park Steels Look Local stadium on Thursday 25 Oct, kick-off at 7:15. Entrance to the game is free, so come along and support the teams.

9 OCT - TWENTYTWO CUP - Round 3 Cup Draw sees giantkillers get home ties - The Twentytwo Cup Round 3 draw, made by Sheffield United's Media Manager Kevin Cookson and Super Draw Lotto's Pete Stones saw giantkillers, Division Two Boynton Sports, given the chance to claim a second scalp with a home tie against CBC Premier Intake Old Boys. Division One Civil Sports A could also claim a second scalp at home against Handsworth Old Crown if they beat Norton Oaks B in Round 2. Division Two's other club, Colley, have a tough home tie against Divsion One leaders Forum, while holders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant travel to Division One Cobden View. An all CBC Premier tie sees Stannington Village entertain Norton Sportsman, while CBC Premier leaders Oughtibridge WM face a difficult tie at Division One Crookes FC. Royal Earl travel to fellow Division One side Mosborough Reds, while another Division One side, Cotts FC, have a tough task at CBC Premier Redmires.

7 OCT - RIP Pugsley - Richard PUGSLEY Poole, Handsworth Old Crown's Number 1 Supporter has sadly passed away after several years battling illness. Despite his problems, no matter where Crown played or how many buses Richard had to catch he always seemed to be there to cheer the lads on. Always helped out on match days fetching and carrying match day equipment when fit enough to do so, He will be sorely missed by everyone at Crown and by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts go to his family and friends.

7 OCT - TWENTYTWO CUP - Gordon on the Marc for Boynton to Flash past Woodeats, while Civil Cain Wickersley - The two biggest shocks in the League Twentytwo Cup Round 2 saw Marcus Gordon score twice as Division Two Boynton Sports put out CBC Premier Woodseats Club and Danny Cain do the same as the Division 1 former holderrs Civil Sports A thrashed CBC Premier Wickersly Youth. One of those came at Thorncliffe as Division Two leaders Boynton Sports defeated Woodseats Club 3-0. Woodseats were undone by a Marcus Gordon double for the home side, the second being an unstoppable long range that arrowed into the top corner, and one from the prolific Jake Ballinger whilst at the other end of the pitch Adam Martin made a series of excellent saves and a solid back four that thwarted the Club strikers.

Another team which provided a surprise were two-time winners Civil Sports A as they recorded a stupendous 6-1 away win at Wickersley. It all started off so well for the home team as Lloyd Gelsthorpe gave them the lead but Civil turned on the style to score six goals without response. Dan Cain proved to be a pain for the hosts as he notched a brace for Civil whilst player-manager Gary Eades, Kane Lawrence, Shane McKay and Callum Stewart were also on target for the visitors.

Current holders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant are also in the hat for the next round as they overcame a much depleted Chapeltown RBL side in an all CBC Premier clash by 7-0. Adam Askwith (left) led the scoring for the Pheasant with a well taken hat-trick whilst a couple of strikes from Lewis Grist and single efforts from Carl Andrews and Lewis Fothergill completed an excellent win. Stannington Village avoided a potential banana skin in their game at Division Two side Mosborough Whites as they recorded a 5-0 success. Lewis Dickinson scored twice for Village whilst Sean Flynn, Bill Green and Dean Jepson also found the back of the Whites net.

The game of the round though came at Warminster Road as Intake Old Boys and Renishaw Rangers shared ten goals before the Old Boys prevailed over their fellow CBC Premier opponents in a penalty shootout. Mark West scored four times for the home team whilst Dominic Naughton was also on target for Intake, Renishaw replying with a double from Joe Glover and efforts from Robin Holmes, veteran Rikki Davidson and Ryan Plant. Callum Paine proved to be the main man though as he netted the crucial penalty in the subsequent shootout.

Redmires were ruthless in their tie at Norton Oaks A as they scored seven without response. Jon Wall scored a couple for Dave Knaggs’ side whilst Andy Bath, Tom Whiting, Jake Gamban, Jake Schofield and Ross Thompson also netted. Equally as lethal in front of goals were Norton Sportsman as they hit double figures against Ranch with a 10-0 success. Harry Groombridge marked his full Sportsman debut with a couple of strikes, one an exquisite chip over the Ranch custodian. Andy Gibbons and Sonny Wilson also had a brace apiece whilst Jack Waymouth, James Archer, Chris Lewis and Brad Bowland also added to their own personal goal tallies.

Two second half goals helped Mosborough Reds to a place in the next round at the expense of Division Two Civil Sports B. Jake Leonard broke the deadlock half way through the second half when he played a one-two with Scott Williams before slotting the ball into the corner of the Civil net and the victory was secured in the final minute when Luke Fogg rifled the ball into the roof of the net from a Kyle Fletcher corner kick. Last season’s semi-finalists Crookes FC made no mistake when they saw off Beighton Magpies 6-1 with Mike Murphy scoring twice. Matt Cowen, James Hambling, Liam Cartledge and an own goal made up the six whilst Magpies gave it their best and Sergiu Udrea netted with a nice flick. In an all Division One clash, Forum edged past Southey Social by the odd goal in five. Matty Ord netted twice for Jamie Smith’s team and Anthony Holmes once against a Southey side who had taken the lead with a twenty yard effort from Todd Guest. Ord and Holmes then put Forum 3-1 up before John Mellor’s goal for Southey made it an interesting final ten minutes but the home side held on for the win. Michael Blythen scored twice as well as Cotts FC advanced to the next stage with a 3-0 win at Shakey, Nick Haywood adding the other for the early Division One front runners.

Danny Barnsley gave Sheffield Sixes the lead when he profited from a mistake by the Colley goalkeeper before Matt Meaney levelled for the visitors when a clearance hit him and rebounded into the goal. Sixes regained the lead when Brad Nicholson netted a free header from a corner and could have gone further ahead but missed from the penalty spot. Danny Parker sent the teams in level at half time before Faisal Miladi tapped home the winner midway through the second half. Also edging through 3-2 were Cobden View at the expense of Wadsley Horse and Jockey of Division Two. Reece James and George Scott were on target for Jockey but Cobden rode to the win with efforts from Ralph Clarkson, Joe Taylor and Callum McCury.
