26 NOV - LEAGUE TWENTYTWO CUP - Boynton just love Lee as Penistone Crash out - In the  final game of the League Twentytwo Cup last sixteen last season’s semi-finalists Penistone Church hosted Division Two side Boynton Sports. However, there will be no repeat for Church as the visitors recorded a 3-1 win - their second successive victory over a CBC Premier side after knocking out Woodseats Club in the previous round. Penistone took an early lead through Lewis Dickinson but Boynton levelled when Ben Jordan crossed and it was his brother Lee who volleyed home at the far post. They went in front in the closing stages when on a counter attack, Jermaine Modeste applying the final touch and then with five minutes left another counter saw Lee Jordan score his second and more important goal to leave Penistone down and out. Yet Penistone will rue themselves for missing plenty of chances; with Tim Council racking up a few of them himself alone.

CBC PREMIER - McGuiness keeps Wickersley ahead  - Wickersley remain the leaders of the top flight after coming from behind to see off Intake Old Boys 4-3. Intake were two goals to the good inside the first twenty minutes thanks to goals from Harry Groombridge and Harry Chamberlain, but Joe McGuinness’ first of the morning reduced the arrears only for Jonny Roper to put the visitors 3-1 up at the interval. Whatever Lewis Carder said at half-time certainly fired up his team and they were back within one when skipper Kris Lee-Green scorched home a twenty yarder. The leveller then came Lee-Green spilt open the Intake defence and Drew Houghton coolly finished, and the comeback was complete when McGuinness was put through one on one: making no mistake.

Three points behind in third place and with two games in hand are Wadsley Bridge Pheasant as they ran nap over Civil Sports A. Carl Andrews (left) headed from a corner to open the scoring and it was doubled when Jordan Turner cut the ball back for Luke Beedham to net. Just after the interval Beedham scored his second of the game, and then a fine finish from Dylan Parrott extended the lead to four. Parrott had a hand in the fifth and final goal, setting up Adam Askwith to net with a well taken effort.

Starting into get in touch are Redmires as they overcame Norton Oaks A 2-1 away from home. It had been a goalless first half, but the visitors went in front when Tom Whiting continued his golden touch when netting on a breakaway. The same player made it two when he headed over the Norton goalkeeper when he was through on goal, but Norton got a consolation in the final few minutes when Dale Kay reduced the arrears but no closer than that.

Having drawn 1-1 last week Handsworth Old Crown and Stannington Village faced off again but this time in the CBC Premier’s final game, but it was Handsworth who came out on top. A first half volley from Jordan Stocks put Old Crown ahead after Ben Cook’s effort was controversially washed out previously. The home side built on the opener and added two more in the second half thanks to Matt Ellis and Ryan Goodison to secure three valuable points on the board.

DIVISION 1 - Archer hits the target as Sportsman go goal crazy - James Archer scored five as Norton Sportsman beat Steelers by a League record score to go second in the table. They moved ahead of Chapeltown RBL despite their very good victory over Cobden View and that result allowed both Oughtibridge WM and Southey Social to go above View with good wins over Ranch and Civil Sports B, while a Jack Hawkes treble helped Brinsworth Phoenix moved ahead of their hosts Colley. Norton Oaks B also went above Cotts thanks to Will Carlisle's winner.

With Division One leaders Woodhouse Village not playing it was a chance for those below to make some inroads into the gap that had appeared. Moving into second placed are Norton Sportsman who inflicted a Blades Super Draw League record 24-0 win over a clearly struggling Steelers side that remain anchored at the bottom of the table. James Archer led the scoring with five individual strikes whilst Brad Bowland and Jack Waymouth both netted four apiece. Chris Lewis and Connor Pryde nabbed a hat-trick, Danny Rogers a brace and one from Michael Gibbons, Josh Furniss and Connor Merone who played the last twenty minutes as an outfield player after having little to do in goal bar save a first half Steelers penalty.

Slipping down into third, albeit only on goal difference, are Chapeltown RBL as they overcame fellow promotion challengers Cobden View 5-2. Legion’s top scorer Gavin Butler continued to score and had his side 2-0 ahead either side of half time but Cobden fought back with replies from Mike McVay and a close-range finish from Tim Pitt. But then it fell apart for the visitors as the home side kicked on again and scored three unanswered goals to seal the win thanks to Danny Cardwell, Ash Burbeary and Tom Wright.

Still unbeaten this season are David Hudson’s Oughtibridge WM as they came from a 2-0 home deficit to defeat Ranch 6-3. Mike Vella scored both of Ranch’s opening goals before Ollie Black, a Danny Booth screamer and Josh Walker put Oughtibridge ahead. Tyrone Gunter restored parity for Ranch, but the home side found another gear and scored three more times thanks to Justin Westoby and a brace from Callum Chambers.

Southey Social made sure that Civil Sports B would have to wait a bit longer as they came away from Green Lane with a 5-1 victory. John Mellor scored twice for Social whilst there were further strikes from Adam Danks, Alix Ward and an own goal whilst Civil’s sole response came from James Greenwood and they remain one off the bottom. A workmanlike effort helped Norton Oaks B to a second win of the season and their unbeaten run to four games; Will Carlisle with the sole goal to defeat Cotts 1-0 whilst the visitors also missed a penalty with just five minutes left.

DIVISION 2 - Danny boy helps keep Jockey on top, but Earl lose ground  - Danny Bent scored twice as Wadsley Horse & Jockey beat Mosborough Whites to stay six points clear at the top and Crookes FC stayed second as Liam Cartledge netted four in their win at Woodhouse Juniors. Forum are up to third after two Antony Holmes (right) goals helped them to victory at promotion rivals Royal Earl and Mosborough Reds slipped to defeat at Shakey thanks to Steve Dickinson's winner, while Woodseats Chantrey just pipped Cadbury.

Wadsley Horse and Jockey are still riding high at the top of Division Two after defeating Mosborough Whites 6-4. Danny Bent scored a couple whilst the remaining goals came from Niall Wilkinson, Kurtis Westerman, Leon Dearns and Danny Barnsley. Mosborough replied thanks to a Danny State brace and single efforts from Jack Bennett and Callum Congreave. Four goals from Liam Cartledge pushed Crookes FC into second as they saw hosts Woodhouse Juniors 9-3, whilst there were further efforts from Liam Morris, Andy Parkin, Joseph Jerrison, former Redmires stalwart Jonathan Wall and Peter Smith. Woodhouse’s replies came from a Dmitri White couple and one from Matt Cooper.

In a huge game Forum FCCO were the winners as they saw off a depleted Royal Earl side 4-2. Two defensive calamities in the opening six minutes set the tone and the visitors added a third before Earl player-manager Matt Parks pulled one back. The visitors added a fourth whilst Steve Brammer scored a consolation second for the home team. Antony Holmes bagged two more in Forum’s tally and Josh Gibson and Jav Sherratt completed the scoring for Jamie Smith’s team (first pictures below). Action from the game is below - pictures by Mick Moat.

Mosborough Reds Luke Fogg missed a first half penalty in their game at Shakey, and it proved to be costly as Steve Dickinson scored the winner for the home side with just thirteen minutes left to play. To conclude the action, Woodseats Chantrey picked up a three-point haul as they saw off Cadbury 2-1 thanks to strikes from Gavin Sambrook and Danny Lonsdale whilst a goal from Spencer wasn’t sweet enough to get something out of the game for the away side.

22 NOV - Sunday Cups Quarter Final draws - The draws for the Sunday Senior and Sunday Junior Cups was made yesterday and all our six remaining teams managed to avoid each other. In the Sunday Senior Cup Redmires will stage a repeat of last season's quarter final when they entertain Rotherham's Fitzwilliam Arms, a game Redmires won 6-3, while Intake Old Boys will travel to Barnsley's Wombwell Main.

The Sunday Junior Cup quarter finals will see Royal Earl entertain The Crown Wath upon Dearne and Mosborough Whites are also at home against the Mexborough's Swinton Robin Hood that knocked out fellow Div 2 side Boynton Sports in Round 3. Southey Social travel to Rotherham Tier 3 side Silverwood and Crookes FC are also away at Barnsley's Premier Division Swaithe FC. All ties in both competitions are currently scheduled for 17 Dec.

19 NOV - SUNDAY SENIOR CUP - Whiting and West doubles see Redmires and Intake Old Boys through - Two of our teams made the quarter finals, one at the expense of another our member clubs. The first of these were last season’s semi-finalists Redmires (right) as they overcame KP Pewter Pot of the Rotherham Sunday League, 6-2. The game was as good as over at half time as the home side raced into a 4-0 lead. Although Pewter Pot reduced the arrears to 4-2, Redmires kicked on again scored twice more to record an emphatic triumph. Tom Whiting led the scoring with a well taken hat-trick, whilst a double from George Rudd and one from Dale White completed it.

Also in the last eight are Intake Old Boys as they defeated fellow CBC Premier side Norton Oaks A 5-3 away from home. Norton took the lead when a defensive slip allowed Jordan Marshall to net but Alex Rippon equalised for Intake with a header. The same player then put his side ahead from the penalty spot after Harry Groombridge was brought down in the area. Intake extended their lead when Mark West scored their second penalty of the day, but an own goal reduced the arrears. A ball over the top from stand-in goalkeeper Tyler Bates allowed West to score his second before Rich Conway again made it a one goal game. However, West had the final say when he evaded three Norton defenders and then rounded the keeper to complete a superb treble.

Wadsley Bridge Pheasant exited though as they lost 3-1 to another Rotherham Premier side in the shape of AFP; Dylan Parrott scoring the sole Pheasant strike.

SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP - Mosborough Whites and Southey Social pull off shock wins as all four go through - Both Crookes FC and Royal Earl hit nine goals as they made light work of their opponents whilst there were narrow but hugely successful wins for both Mosborough Whites and Southey Social. Crookes FC comfortably disposed of their hosts Maltby Rangers with a comprehensive 9-1 away win. Micah Bishop scored a hat-trick to lead the individual scorecharts, whilst Liam Morris added a brace and there were single efforts from Matt Cohen, Liam Cartledge, James Humbling and Max Pemberton. Also scoring heavily were Royal Earl as they defeated Thrybergh SSC 9-2. Both Steve Brammer and Mike Towey (left) scored trebles, and goals from Olly Beaumont, Billy Wright and Jake Mason finished off the rout.

A single goal from Callum Congreave was just the trick for Mosborough Whites as they defeated Swallownest Village; whom had put out Norton Sportsman out in the previous round. Completing a full house of victories for the Blades Super Draw League were Southey Social as they made their lengthy trip to Upton Wrangbrook a winning one with a 3-2 win. A goal down to a strike on the stroke of half time, Southey restored parity when an Upton defender turned the ball into his own net. John Mellor made it 2-1 to Southey before Callum Jones saved a penalty and the subsequent follow up from the home side. Shortly afterwards Upton did indeed level but with just six minutes left, Adam Danks was in the right place to net what proved to be the eventual match winning goal.

CBC PREMIER -CBC PREMIER - Killamarsh slip up at Civil to let Wickersley go top - The leadership of the CBC Premier Division changed hands as Wickersley Youth recorded a 7-2 win at basement club Hallam FC. Jack Waddle opened the scoring for Hallam before two goals from Joe McGuinness and a curled effort from man of the match Ben Thornton put the visitors. Elliott Coles drew Hallam level but then the floodgates opened in style as Adam Daughtrey, Ainsley Finney and Thornton all scored without response to send Lewis Carder’s men to the summit.

Killamarsh Juniors were the leaders at the start of play and looked ready to record another win when two first half Callum Mawbey goals had them in front at Civil Sports A. Ten minutes into the second half, Civil reduced the deficit with a Harley Wilson penalty and then skipper Ben Brown (right) drew them level when he connected from a corner kick. Civil completed an impressive turnaround with just two minutes left on the clock, Thomas Bamford with the winning strike.

Stannington Village and Handsworth Old Crown were forced to shake hands on a 1-1 draw at Malin Bridge. Village took the lead when a Shaun Flynn cross was tapped home at the far post by Adam Todd, and they could have added to it with Danny Smith and Ben Cook going close. Handsworth levelled with twenty minutes to go when Russell Hobson scored from the penalty spot and Stannington had to hold for a point with ten men thanks to an all-important save from Nathan Ryan.

DIVISION 1 - Woodhouse Village win the battle of the top two, but RBL, Sportsman and Oughtibridge all keep pace with them - The top two in Division One clashed and it was the leaders Woodhouse Village who came out on top in a brilliant game that was a superb advert for the league, defeating Cobden View 2-1. Two goals from Perry Jackson and Theo Wilson put Village in control at half time before Cobden skipper Joe Taylor took advantage of a defensive slip to reduce the margin. Both teams went for more goals after that and it took a Ryan Simmonite clearance from the goal-line in the last couple of minute to deny Cobden a share of the spoils.

Moving into second place are Chapeltown RBL as they recorded a 3-2 win in another superb game; this time at Cotts FC. Michael Blythen put the home team ahead but Legion levelled just before half time when Keenan Gibson flicked the ball home. In the second half, Gavin Butler made it six goals in six games to put the visitors in front and then Dale Shaw got on the end of a fine cross by man of the match Niall Smith to extend the lead. Blythen scored his second of the morning but Legion held on well for three well deserved points. Action from the game is below - pictures by Mick Moat.

Behind them on goal difference only are Norton Sportsman as they overcame Ranch 2-1. Ryan Rutherford put the visiting team ahead after a well created move on the half hour, but five minutes later Connor Pryde outpaced the defence to level matters. The game winning goal came five minutes into the second half when Chris Lewis found the corner of the Ranch net from eighteen yards out but Ranch couldn’t break through again. Brinsworth Phoenix and Norton Oaks B shared four goals and the points with a 2-2 tie, Karl Fox and an own goal scoring for Phoenix whilst Mansell and Meah did the same for Oaks.

Oughtibridge WM recorded probably their biggest ever win as they defeated a gallant Steelers side 18-0; scoring nine in each half. Callum Chambers had four whilst Simon Duckworth and Ross Brown both added hat-tricks. Ollie Black and James Baker added doubles whilst Justin Westoby, Evan Watson, Josh Walker and Richard Honeyman completed a comprehensive win for David Hudson’s men. Also scoring a clutch of goals were Colley as they defeated Civil Sports B 7-4, Josh Buxton scored a hat-trick (one from the spot) for Neil Whitworth’s team and Christopher Onija and Regan Dempsey scored twice whilst all Civil’s goals were scored by the ever-prolific Jed Phillips and they remain in the bottom two.

DIVISION 2 - Leaders Jockey end Boynton's perfect record, while Mosborough Reds and Woodhouse move into the top three  - Wadsley Horse & Jockey remain at the head of Division Two after a 1-1 draw at Boynton Sports; a result which ended the home side’s one hundred percent record. Aaron Statham put Wadsley ahead but Ross Thompson equalised from close range and a draw was seen as a fair result. Into second place are Mosborough Reds as they recorded a stupendous 8-1 away win at Woodseats Chantrey. Josh Smith scored a well taken three goal haul whilst Joe Harris and Luke Fogg both netted twice and Scott Williams once. Chantrey’s goal was a pure consolation in the dying stages from Danny Lonsdale.

Woodhouse Juniors are third with a 7-0 away win at the ever plucky Crookes and District. It was goalless for the first twenty minutes and then the floodgates opened wide with five goals hitting the Crookes net in the next twenty minutes to send the visitors five goals ahead at half time with two more in the final quarter of an hour. Jake Dean scored a hat-trick whilst Tom Bland’s double and one each from Henry Bradshaw and Joe Shutt put them in seventh heaven. Inspired by Phil Nshindano, Forum won 6-2 at home to Shakey with goals from Josh Gibson; twice; and additional strikes from Josh Schofield, James Pemberton, Jav Sherratt and player-manager Jamie Smith. Shakey replied through Andrew Redfearn and Steve Dickinson.

12 NOV - Clubs show their respect for the fallen - Clubs in the league showed their respect for Remembrance Sunday before their games today (pictured left are the players from Handsworth Old Crown and Redmires with referee Pete Henger) and Chapeltown RBL players (pictured left) took part in the ceremonies in Chapeltown

12 NOV - CBC PREMIER - Pheasant record Ripped apart, but Oaks keep theirs to go second - CBC Premier leaders Killamarsh Juniors still stay ahead of a chasing pack but had to settle for a draw as visitors Penistone Church came back to share the spoils in a 2-2 game. The game was goalless for the first half but Killamarsh took the lead when James Savage scored, a lead doubled when Callum Mawbey went through one on one and coolly finished. The visitors rallied in the final fifteen minutes and scored twice in seven minutes through Callum Lee and George Orrell to gain a point.

Behind them by a point are Norton Oaks A and Intake Old Boys; Norton with two games in hand. Two goals in the final two minutes secured the point for Norton as they defeated Hallam FC 3-1 thanks to a brace from Liam Paterson and one from Scott Westney, with James Walsh scoring Hallam’s only goal. Intake are third after a splendid 2-1 away at former CBC Premier champions Wadsley Bridge Pheasant. The game was played with a stiff breeze making it difficult, but Pheasant took the lead when Lewis Fothergill cut the ball back for Adam Claydon to slot home. Halfway through the second half Intake levelled when substitute Alex Rippon was fouled in the area and he picked himself up to score the resultant penalty. The winner came from the same player, again a penalty was awarded but although the initial kick was saved – Rippon was in the right place to net the rebound and end Pheasant's unbeaten record.

Current champions Stannington Village left it late as they recorded a 3-2 win at Wickersley. It was the home side who took the lead when Ross Johnson finished well after a great feed from Alex Elwell, but Stannington then got into it and levelled in the final throes of the first half when Alex Torr (left) was in the right place to knock home a rebound from a Shaun Flynn shot. Wickersley regained the lead with a cool finish from Joe McGuinness and looked well set for the victory until two goals in the final ten minutes took that away from them. With ten minutes to go, Arnie Grayson bulleted home a header from a Flynn corner and in the final minute Torr was upended in the area and the striker picked himself up to net the winner from the spot.

Redmires took full points from their trip to Handsworth Old Crown as they overcame their hosts 2-1. Both goals came in the first half, thanks to George Rudd and Chris Cottyn and it could have been much more. Handsworth were second best for the majority of the game, and a last-minute David Sills strike made it a one goal game but it proved to be too little; too late. Action from the game is below - pictures by Mick Moat. The final two pictures are David Sills late goal for Handsworth.

In the final CBC Premier game, Civil Sports A and visitors Woodseats Club shared six goals. Civil started brilliantly with two goals in the opening five minutes from Joe Littlewood and Wesley Bamford but in the second half Woodseats came back into it with a Nick Owen brace (one a thirty-yard stunner) and Lewis Whittaker. A great game didn’t deserve a loser and when Civil were awarded a penalty in the final minute; Harley Wilson stepped up to equalise for the home side.

DIVISION 1 - Cobden undone by Turton as Woodhouse go seven points clear at the top - Division One leaders Woodhouse Village are now seven points clear at the second tier as they routed Civil Sports B 8-1. Ollie Grady missed an early spot kick for Village but they then scored five goals in the first half to put the game beyond their opponents thanks to doubles from Callum Paine and Theo Wilson; and a single effort from Ryan Lee. Civil’s Jacob Walkland missed a penalty of their own before Ben Firth reduced the arrears, only for Harry Emery to net with Village’s second penalty of the morning to make it 6-1. Lee’s second goal of the match made it seven before Village captain Joe Moakes finished off the rout with a neat finish towards the end of the game.

Second placed Cobden View remain in that position after a 1-0 loss at Norton Oaks B, Mark Turton’s (right) header from a Jordan Holland set piece gave them the points and a first win of the season thanks to a resilient team performance. Closing on them and third placed Chapeltown RBL are Norton Sportsman as they defeated Brinsworth Phoenix 4-1. Doubles from Sonny Wilson and Brad Bowland did the trick for Sportsman whilst Phoenix’s sole response came from Karl Fox who headed home a Nicky Shaw corner kick.

Ranch leapfrogged their hosts Colley with a good 5-2 away win. Jake Ward and Mitch Cowlishaw put them two goals ahead at the interval and a wonder strike from Jack Williams made it three before Colley got back into it with goals from Josh Buxton and Ridha Miladi before Ranch put it beyond them with a double in the final ten minutes from Alex Mosley. Southey Social inflicted another league loss on strugglers Steelers 6-1 despite having to field striker John Mellor as an emergency goalkeeper. Josh Sugden and Lewis Twibell both scored twice for Southey, and Ryan Whitney and Todd Guest one apiece to complete a comprehensive win against a Steelers side whose sole goal came from debutant Liam Middlemass.

DIVISION 2 - Earl undone by Crookes, while Jockey extend their lead at the top - Crookes FC came away from old rivals Royal Earl with all three points to go second in the table, but leaders Wadsley Horse & Jockey made no mistake as two Danny Bent strikes helped them go five points clear with victory over Woodhouse Juniors. Helped by a Ross Thompson hat-trick, Boynton Sports are up to third after maintaining their perfect record with victory at Woodseats Chantrey and Forum maintained their unbeaten record with victory at Mosborough Reds, while a Curtis Priday double helped Cadbury to a second away win of the season at Shakey.

Division Two, leaders Wadsley Horse and Jockey arrested their recent slide in form with a 3-1 home win over Woodhouse Juniors. Danny Bent scored a double and Lewis Smith once whilst Dimtri White scored Woodhouse’s only goal. In the game featuring two of the league’s newcomers it was Crookes FC who came out on top with a 2-0 away triumph thanks to two late finishes from Micah Bishop and James Reed. Referee Jack Hall also receiving praise for his handling of the game.

Boynton Sports are into third place after they recorded a 5-3 win at Woodseats Chantrey. Ben Raynes gave Chantrey the lead from the penalty spot but some great skill by Lee Jordan made a level game at the interval. Danny Lonsdale put the home side back in front after Boynton stopped for an offside that was never forthcoming before Ross Thompson scored his first of the day to make it 2-2. Charlie Hawkins again put Chantrey ahead before Thompson completed his hat-trick with two superb finishes to put the visitors ahead for the first time. Daniel Dunkerley finished the comeback with a fifth when he got on the end of a free-kick.

Forum took the points from their visit to Mosborough Reds with a 3-1 away triumph. Josh Gibson, Javan Sherratt and James Pemberton secured the points for Jamie Smith’s team whilst Mosborough’s sole goal came from a close range finish from Ashley Sherritt; and they also missed a penalty just before half-time. Billy Hilbert scored twice for Shakey but they ended on the losing side as a Priday double and an own goal gave visitors Cadbury a 3-2 win; their second win of the season.

7 NOV - Twentytwo League Cup Round Quarter Final draw - The draw for Quarter Finals of the League Twentytwo Cup was made by former Sheffield Wednesday player Dave Redfearn and former Barnsley player Vinny Lax today and it saw holders Handsworth Old Crown drawn away to the team they beat at Bramall Lane in last season's final, Norton Oaks A. Division Two Crookes FC have a home tie against CBC Premier Civil Sports A, CBC Premier Wadsley Bridge Pheasant travel to Division One Chapeltown RBL, while the other Division One side, Norton Sportsman also have a home tie against Penistone Church or Boynton Sports. One tie will be played on Sunday 3 Dec - Crookes FC v Civil Sports A. The other three ties, Chapeltown RBL v WB Pheasant; Norton Oaks A v Handsworth Old Crown; Norton Sportsman v Penistone Ch or Boynton Sp will be played on 10 Dec. All games on both days have an 11am kick-off.

5 NOV - Spartans take their tournament - The Spartans held a tournament on Sunday 5 Nov at the Sheffield Goals centre and they came away from it as winners, pipping Pontefract Colliers on goal difference. Almost 50 players took part along with Spartans and the Colliers with teams from Sheffield City Knights, Bradford City and Doncaster Titans. Every team played each other, but everyone taking part were the winners. Below from left to right are The Spartans with Bradford Ciity; with Doncaster Titans; with their medals and collecting the trophy.

5 NOV - LEAGUE TWENTYTWO CUP - Crookes and Boynton show Premier teams the exit door - Division Two sides Crookes (right) and Boynton Sports both showed CBC Premier teams the exit door, with Crookes putting out reigning CBC Premier champions Stannington Village in Round 3, while Ross Thompson scored twice as Boynton beat Woodseats Club in their delayed Round 2 tie.

The first of these shocks came at Malin Bridge Gas Club as Division Two side Crookes defeated CBC Premier giants Stannington Village 2-0. Goals from Matt Cohen and Daniel Flynn secured the giant-killing in a game decided by which team took their chances on the morning. Stannington’s best chance fell to Bill Green who forced the Crookes keeper into a good save but then blazed the subsequent rebound over the crossbar. But nobody could deny Crookes their well-deserved glory.

Perhaps an even bigger shock came in the delayed second round tie, Boynton Sports secured a third round trip to Penistone Church at the end of month by defeating CBC Premier side Woodseats Club 3-1. An angled finish from Ross Thompson gave them the lead but Keith Cronin levelled matters for Woodseats by half time. A great team move saw Thompson score and his side’s second before Josh Jones secured the win with a goal at the second attempt as the Woodseats defence dallied.

Also exiting the competition were former winners Redmires as they lost 2-1 to fellow CBC Premier side Wadsley Bridge Pheasant. Pheasant took the lead when Jordan Turner picked up on a long ball from the back, and coolly finished. The lead was doubled when Dylan Parrott crossed excellently for Adam Askwith (right) to net, only for Tom Whiting to reduce the arrears before half time. Both teams gave it their all in the second half but there was no further scoring, yet Turner could have put the game beyond the home side but the Redmires custodian denied him.

The other two remaining Division Two sides both went out to narrow defeats, There were goals a plenty as Norton Sportsman edged past Division Two Mosborough Reds by the odd goal in seven after extra time. Josh Smith gave Mosborough the lead in the first minute, doubled by Joe Harris midway through the second half. Brad Bowland reduced the lead with a penalty with seventeen minutes left and then forced extra time when he got the decisive touch on a Mark Fereday header with five minutes left on the clock. Fereday’s shot from eighteen yards gave Norton the lead midway through the extra period, only for Connor Fields to bring the game back level. Then just as the game looked a certainty for penalties, Norton substitute Josh Furniss popped to flick home the game winner.

A tie that did go to penalties was the game between Division Two Forum FCCO and CBC Premier Civil Sports A. Civil went behind against the run of play but an own goal levelled matters. Stacy Sharif put the visitors ahead but back came Forum to level matters. A well-executed counter attack saw Thomas Bamford restore the lead only for the home team to again come back and level. Forum took the lead in extra time but Josh McCrudden made it 4-4 with two minutes left in the extra thirty minutes. In the resultant shootout, Civil were perfect with five out of five successful kicks whilst Forum missed one of theirs. Forum scorers on the day were Antony Holmes with a brace, a penalty from James Pemberton and one from player-manager Jamie Smith.

Gavin Butler continued his good run in front of goal when he gave Chapeltown RBL the lead at fellow Division One side Southey Social. It looked like it would stand up as the game winner only for Alix Ward to equalise with an excellent free-kick in the third minute of time added-on. Ash Burbeary netted a quick fire double to put Legion 3-1 to the good before John Mellor reduced the arrears for Southey. Legion then held on in another excellent cup encounter.

In another all CBC Premier division tie, a single goal from Liam Paterson sent Norton Oaks A into the last eight at the expenses of hosts Intake Old Boys. Paterson netted midway through the second half with a snap shot across the Intake keeper following great work down the right by Scott Graham. Action from the game is below - pictures by Norton Oaks.

Both sides missed penalties as holders Handsworth Old Crown also went through after a 3-2 win at Hallam. Hallam's Jack Waddles was the first to miss from the spot, and after missing one earlier, Russell Hobson’s second penalty gave Handsworth the lead only for Dan Fox’s header to restore parity. Hallam player-manager Chris Waddle gave his side the lead with a stupendous free-kick that had memories of the 1993 FA Cup semi-final written all over it only for Old Crown to win it with goals from Ben Shackshaft and David Haggerty in a very entertaining game. Action from the game is below - pictures by Mick Moat

DIVISION 1 - Woodhouse Village inflict Paine on Ranch to go four points clear - Callum Paine scored on his first start for Woodhouse Village as they defeated Ranch 3-0 to go four points clear at the top of Division One. Ollie Grady doubled the lead with a superb individual effort which took him past five Ranch players before calmly slotting the ball home, and Harry Emery sealed the deal with his second goal in as many starts thanks to a left foot volley. Second, and four points behind, are Cobden View as they defeated Colley 4-1. Ryan McDonald gave the visitors the lead, but Cobden rallied in the second half and secured their win thanks to goals from Josh Limbrick, Cav Rowland, Richard Higgins and substitute Abdi Yousuf.

Cotts FC were in seventh heaven as they brushed aside bottom of the table Steelers 7-1. The two sides were locked at 1-1 at half time, but Cotts then scored six unanswered strikes in the second half to secure the points. Luke Kingswood and Salem Hizam both scored twice whilst Daniel James, Kieran Patterson and Damien Brown were also on target against Steelers whose only goal came from Brad Johnson. The two remaining games in Division One both ended in draws. Liam Brookfield gave Brinsworth Phoenix the lead against Oughtibridge WM only for Strachan Sampson to draw the visitors level. David Hudson’s men took the lead thanks to Danny Booth and looked certain to come away with the points until Nicky Shaw flicked home a Nathan Darwent cross in injury time. The game between Civil Sports B and Norton Oaks B ended goalless which was enough to secure Norton their first point of the season.

DIVISION 2 - Earl lord it over the leaders - Division Two leaders Wadsley Horse and Jockey suffered their second successive loss as they crashed 6-1 to a Royal Earl side now moving into second place. Mike Towey and Steve Brammer both netted doubles for Earl whilst debutant Conor Higginson and Conor Chappel were also on target against the front runners for whom Niall Wilkinson was their only scorer. Crookes and District are still looking for their first win of the season as they crashed 9-0 to Woodhouse Juniors. After a tight half hour, Woodhouse scored and that was the cue for the floodgates to open.
